Frequently Asked Questions
A sleep sack walker is a wearable blanket with separate leg openings that let your child’s feet stay out. A regular sleep sack keeps both legs inside one enclosed bag.
The Walker style gives a mobile child access to their feet while wearing the sack; it is sleepwear, not a device that teaches or supports walking.
Choose a Walker when your child meets the size requirements and open feet suit their movement. Kaiya Baby’s Walker size chart starts at 6–18 months, but the age label alone does not determine fit.
Check both height and weight before buying. A baby who is 6–12 months old may still be too small for that size.
Measure your child’s height and weight, then compare both with the size chart for the style you want. The neckline and shoulders should fit securely so your child cannot slip down inside.
Check that the legs have room to move and that the fabric does not trail under their feet. Avoid buying an oversized Walker to grow into.
Choose the TOG for your child’s bedroom temperature and clothing layers. Kaiya Baby’s Walker range includes 0.5, 1.0, 2.5, and 3.5 TOG options.
A higher TOG provides more insulation. Use the clothing guide for the style you select, and check your child for warmth after dressing rather than choosing by the season alone.
A bodysuit or pajamas can be worn underneath, depending on the room temperature and the Walker’s TOG. Start with the product’s clothing guide.
Check your child’s chest or the back of their neck; if their skin feels hot or sweaty, remove a layer. Cool hands or feet alone are not a reason to add more clothing.
Our 0.5 TOG Walkers use cotton without filling. Our camel wool styles combine a cotton outer and lining with a filling of 30% camel wool and 70% SORONA®.
The shell and filling are different parts of the garment, so check the full material description for the style you choose, especially if your child has a known fabric sensitivity.
Fasten the zipper, place the Walker in a laundry bag, and machine wash at 40°C (104°F) with mild detergent. Avoid bleach, fabric softener, and soaking.
Follow the sewn-in care label for drying: tumble-drying instructions vary between styles. If the label and online instructions differ, contact us before using a dryer.
Check that the Walker fits correctly, is intended for sleep, and is used according to its instructions. Foot openings alone do not make sleepwear safer.
For babies under 12 months, follow the American Academy of Pediatrics’ guidance: place your baby on their back on a firm, flat sleep surface, keep loose bedding out, and avoid weighted sleep products.
